    IN THE NEWS

NewHTs AND TEN THOUSAND VILLAGES SUPPORT HAITI

The NewHTs have exciting news!  This month we have found an easy way for you to start your Christmas shopping and beat the rush. We are going to bring the store to you, right here at New Hope. The store we’ll offer is an offsite branch of Ten Thousand Villages. The main stores are operated year round by volunteers who strive to bring new hope to artisans from third world countries through fair trade.

At the store you’ll find personal products like jewelry, children’s items, Christmas decorations, kitchen needs, and many items from Haitian artisans. A great example of one such item is the really, really cute newt above. Don’t you want one? We do. To get a newt and other fun products, plan to come shopping for Christmas during the times listed below. Invite all your friends and family to shop, too, and bring long lists.

New Hope receives fifteen percent of the sales, all of which will be donated to recovery in Haiti. Our goal is to sell at least $2000 in products, so we can raise $300 for Haiti.

If you would like to help in the store, we will unpack and stock items when training will be conducted, Thursday August 19 at 7:00 p.m.  If you would like to help repack unsold items, stay after the picnic. Whatever way you can support the cause is appreciated.

    STARGAZING THE IN SUMMER SKY

After multiple winter cancellations, the Star Party at New Hope has been rescheduled for Thursday 8/19 from 9-11 p.m. Come see the night sky and explore the various wonders of God in it led by Chris V. A., majoring in Astro-Physics in college.  Observe some of the major constellations and maybe a planet or two. Then come inside for snacks and sharing.  Check the weather forecast because in case of heavy clouds, we will need to cancel.  Call Chris on his cell if you want to check cloud status before coming, as he'll be setting up early and confirming conditions.  Sign up soon, as registration is limited. STOP SIGN REMINDER

We never want to stop being good neighbors, so please always remember to stop for the first stop sign at the bottom of the church driveway. We have neighbors who share the pull-off area near the mailboxes, and there is no stop sign for drivers making the turn from Lincoln Way or Menzie Road. Also, please maintain a safe, slow speed when driving through the church parking lot and driveway to keep walkers, and our animal friends, safe. Back to Top

    CANCELLATION POLICY

If it becomes necessary to cancel or postpone worship services or other churchwide events (like dinners) due to severe weather or other emergencies, we will provide notification to the congregation and community via local TV stations (KDKA, WTAE, and WPXI) and with a temporary message on the church voice mail system. For other scheduled meetings, small group events, and outside group events, the leaders of these meetings or events will decide if it's necessary to cancel or postpone and see that affected people are notified.
